I need to get my hands on one of those Maryland Wine Passports. The bf and I have been able to get a good deal of wine tasting in these past couple of weeks, and I have to say I’m ready to keep it up. We’ve amassed seven bottles from varying wineries since the end of June. From two bottles purchased at Linganore Winecellars’ Beach Party Winefest a few weeks ago to five more bottles picked up at local wine tasting event “Eat, Drink and Go Local” held on Carroll Creek this past Saturday, July 9.
Even though it was hot and we felt like we were melting, we really enjoyed getting a better taste of more of the wines available in our good ‘ole home state.
“Eat, Drink and Go Local,” was actually my first coupon purchase on LivingSocia and it was a great deal. Originally $15 per ticket for the standard wine tasting ticket, LivingSocial was offering tickets for $7. When we arrived, we were actually able to upgrade out tickets for only an additional $10 to include four food pairings and a souvenir wine bottle bag (which obviously came in handy by the end of the day.)
Canapes Catering was preparing the dishes to be tasted, and the best part was they were using ingredients from local farmers and vendors also present at the event.
The first station offered a corn and jalapeno pudding (more like a moist corn muffin) with a goat cheese and tomato garnish. Next up, a caprese pizza topped with some of the most amazing fresh tomatoes. (My apologies for not having pictures of the dishes.) The third station served some kabobs made with Lovell Grass Fed Beef and veggies. Our last tasting was a grilled peach and goat cheese combo. And this really made the upgraded ticket worth it for me, the kind people working the tasting booths were all spot on when asked which wine created their favorite pairing.
