Hello! Thank you so much for stopping by my little corner of the interweb.
I’m Sarah, a resident of Frederick since 1998 and a downtowner since 2009. I see Food & Frederick as something along the lines of a food/travel/small-town lifestyle blog. There’s a lot of food (both home cooked and enjoyed out), a little travel, and a few other odds and ends.
When it comes to food, well, I love cooking it, eating it, serving it to others, learning about it, even traveling for it. I’ve never subscribed to the notion that I can’t live for food. (Good, real food mind-you.) Whatever skills I posses in the kitchen are pretty much self taught but I’ve always preferred to learn by doing. I am definitely no chef. I wouldn’t even say I’m a great cook, at least not yet. I’ve got a lot more learning to do and I am just grateful for my supportive friends and loved ones who are always willing to let me cook.
I didn’t realize how much of a gem my hometown was until after college when I found myself living on Market Street. I’ve since moved away from the main drag (by about 1/2 a block, so I don’t know how much that counts) but I really couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I feel very lucky to get to call downtown Frederick home. If you live here or have ever visited, I’m sure you understand.
When I’m not “doing research” for the blog you may be able to find me running (I run half marathons so I can keep eating), helping local small businesses with their online presence (my background is in marketing), or leading walking food & culture tours of downtown as I am the proud owner of Taste Frederick Food Tours which is allowing me to take my love of Food & Frederick to the streets!
